About
The German Student Union's Poster Competition is an annual competition open to all design-related students in Germany. It has been held annually since 1987, and for the Winter of 23/24 the topic was “get out of crisis mode”. It was also the final project for one of the classes of my Master's at KISD.
Topic
"Climate change, war, energy crisis: How do students deal with the multiple crises of our time? What are their fears and hopes? How do they cope with these crises? The DSW invites design students to express their perspectives on these crises, share fears and hopes, and visualize their visions of a future beyond the difficulties."
"What crises?" - the idea behind it
My reflections on the theme were based on my way of experiencing the last few years. The words with which I was working were: imminence, inevitability, unavoidability distress, and anxiety.
Coupled with a critical examination of our present reality, my poster deals with how capitalism, often implicated in the existence of many of our challenges, presents palliative solutions wrapped in a positive and reassuring discourse. At the same time, the same sentence spoke from a personal perspective. To all the moments we choose oblivion to go through the times.
The Final Poster is not a photo
Is a combination of 3 different shots. One made before the fire, so we can read the text + one on fire + photo of the flames.
